This beautiful monument in the Mehrauli area of New Delhi was built in the 12th century by Emperor Qutub- Ud- Din- Aibak and was finally completed by his son-in-law, Iltutmish, who succeeded him. The monument is made up of 5 levels with projecting balconies on each level. The specialty of the monument is that each level is different from the others in terms of size and designs. This is what makes it even more spectacular. The verses from the Holy Koran of the Muslims are carved on the walls of the monument and the lattice work is remarkable too. The controversy surrounding this monument says that this was originally a Hindu monument, built much before the 12th century. It is also said that Aibak only renovated it by replacing the Hindu Stone designs with Islamic ones. Till now one side of the monument walls have Hindu designs on them and the outer part is adorned with ornamental Islamic designs. The monument has been damaged by natural forces and calamities many a times but has been repaired again and again. This is the reason why it stands strong even after so long.

16 Qutub Minar — Leaning TowerThe Iconic Qutub Minar in Delhi slightly resembles the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Both of them have six stories, and the construction for both of them started in the 1100s and ended in the 1300s, and both are awarded as Unesco World Heritage Sites. Adding to it both are adjacent to another historical structure i.e Qutub Minar is adjacent to Alai Darwaza, whereas the Leaning Tower stands next to Pisa Cathedral.
Qutab Minar is a  long 73 m-high tower of victory, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi's last Hindu kingdom.
Day 2Qutub Minar is one of the highest minarets in India with a height of 73 metres. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the tallest brick minaret in the world. This 12th-century minaret is considered as the earliest Islamic structure in India with both Arabic and Brahmi inscriptions. Apart from history, it is good location for clicking pictures and relax for a while.
It was again Comedy Central and Friends plus breakfast and South Indian lunch in my relative's home. Post that we went to Qutub Minar. Good for us, as it was some archaeological day, entry was free. Qutub Minar wasn't exciting as such and it wasn't as good as the Jaipur one too but the metro ride as usual was lovely.While coming back through Monday market in Karol Bagh, had a golgappae but missed chola bhatura. I somehow miss that every time. Monday market actually seemed to be a good avenue to buy cheap necessary things. But I was in no mood for shopping so didn't get any.Night, post dinner took a bus to station and reached the station well in advance. There was never a dearth of having juices. Lime, litchi, ice cream and mixed. It kept going on.Day 10 - One Final Journey It was a day I was getting fried up in the train oven. There was never a dearth of Supari clad local men in the compartment.
