Considered amongst the most beautiful treks in the country, both Kedarkantha and Chandrashila treks offer you unparalleled views. Kedarkantha trek begins from a village called Sankri and Chandrashila trek from Sarri. The best part of any trek is not always the peak point, and in this case it was the people of these villages who were too welcoming and jovial.
Trek duration & difficulty :
Kedarkantha (Sankri to peak and back) : 2-4 days. (Moderate) - 12,500 ft.
Chandrasila (Sarri-Deoria Tal-Chopta-Peak-Chopta) : 2-3 days (Moderate) - 13,000 ft.
Interesting fact: Tungnath temple shown in this video is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district.
Things to be noted: There are no ATMs in Sankri. Internet connection is available only for BSNL, that too erratically. At Chopta too there are no ATMs but internet connection is decent.
